What is it?

BLACK HARPIST SUMMIT

A gathering of black harpists learn about the past, share in the moment

and cultivate a bright and sustainable future.

Over the past 10-15 years, teen and adult harpist have contacted me, asking if I knew of a place, group or retreat for harpists of color. I didn't; I searched the internet and asked fellow harpists, I came up with nothing.

Because I am my mother's child, I decided to create the black harpist summit.

I have fond memories of the harp camps I attended, and now even co-direct the camp. I understand how important it is for young harpist of color to see and be with people that look like them.

My vision of this summit is to focus on black harpists and composers. I want to highlight the existing compositions and encourage new ones. I want to encourage different approaches to the harp in a comfortable space. Its important to me that young black harpist see and network with each other. My dream is that The black Harpist Summit outgrows and outlives me, and Black Harpist Summits will be held all over the world.

Starting Out

This will be a one day Summit in the Pennsylvania Tristate area

Hosting workshops, Performances, and Presentations for all harpists of all ages and all levels

 Three to four-day Summit in the Pennsylvania Tristate area.

A foundation to help young black harpist attain a harp
